Worry and Anxiety – Can you be free of it?

Phil 4:6,7 “Be not anxious about anything, but in everything, let your petitions be made known to God by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, and that peace of God which surpasses all conception shall guard your hearts hand your minds by Christ Jesus.”  Diaglott

Be not anxious about anything… that is not to be overly concerned and frustrated about life’s challenges.

When we are worried, distressed or anxious, we lose communion with our heavenly Father.   Nothing seems to go right.  We can’t think properly.  We can’t study.  We can’t pray.  Our mind jumps from one thing to another.   We just get perplexed.  Not only do our minds suffer, but our bodies do as well.   Doctors tell us that the majority of illnesses are caused directly or indirectly by a change in body chemistry that takes place because of worry and anxiety.

Proverbs 17:22 says, “A merry heart does well like medicine, but a broken spirit dries up the bones.”

Yet, it would be a safe assumption to say that very few of us never worry or become anxious.  Why do we worry and become anxious.  Shouldn’t we be the most worry free people in the world, with our faith in God’s promises for us, the “he would never leave us or forsake us” for example?
