NEW LIGHT ON IDENTITY OF “FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE”

The July 15 2013 “Study Edition” reveals “new light” unveiled at the October 5th 2012 Annual Meeting, at which it was announced that the Governing Body is now considered the “faithful and discreet slave” – the spiritual overlords of the nearly 8 million Jehovah’s Witnesses worldwide.

You can find the July15, 2013 Watchtower Study Edition by CLICKING HERE:

We have had a poll in the upper left side of the Website for several months asking the question, WHO IS THE FAITHFUL AND DISCREET SLAVE.  As of April 10, 2013, 886 visitors have voted.  355 or 40% of the voters identified the Governing Body as the Faithful and Discreet Slave.  If 40% of the visitors on our website believed it before the announcement, it is a reasonable deduction that a far higher percentage of JWs in the Watchtower organization believed it before it was announced.  Does this suggest that the organization has been subtly implying the idea for a long time now?  Was this so that the announcement would be expected rather than received as shocking and surprising news?

As a summary, the three articles in the July Watchtower indicate changes in several points of view:

1. The great tribulation did not begin in 1914, but is a future event
2. The great tribulation only begins when the United Nations attacks world religion (they used the expression “nominal Christians” an expression from the early Watchtower days.)
3. The judgment of the “sheep and the goats” also is not occurring now, but only once the great tribulation begins.
4. The “Faithful and Discreet Slave” is no longer simply the anointed, but only the Governing Body who are dispensing the “spiritual food”.
5. There is no “evil slave class” – a significant change.  (This is no help to the early Bible Students (now passed away) who were charged with being Evil Slaves for resisting the sweeping changes.)

They have discarded important views regarding 1914, as well as changing ideas relating to the “inspection of the temple” period of 1918 to 1919. This is quite significant. It appears that they are laying the groundwork for a very long future period when all of the old-timers have died off but the organization remains. They are also suggesting that the Governing Body members will receive a special appointment different from others of the anointed. This is weird stuff, but most faithful JWs will rejoice in the new light.

    To Jerome;

Vol IV pages 611,612. “WATCH,IF YE WOULD KNOW.”

“Watch therefore: for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come. But understand this[the reason why the time is so secreated under symbols and parables],that if the householder had known in what watch the thief would come, he would have watched, and would not have suffered his house to be broken up.”- Matt. 24:42,43.

“by the Lord’s parousia in 1874, and the harvest work then begun.”

“Nor was the fact of the Lord’s presence recognized until nearly a year after October 1874, when his knock, through the word of the prophets and apostles, was recognized.”

It might help you to read all six volumes.

  • New Light? This “New Light” expression is nothing but a cover for not admitting to human error. It insults God as He does not make mistakes. Was not the initial “Light” the truth?

I see the images of eight men, most of whom are men of European descent. This insults The Most High and mocks Him. It makes God a “partial” God. Why are “White” predominating over what is supposed to be a “Brotherhood” encompassing all members of the human family? These eight men are hardly “representative” of the membership or the vast variety of persons of different nations and languages. This is shameful.

Even if the “other anointed” remnant were that Faithful and Discreet Slave, it is clear that this “New Light” is a way to brush off the questions (I have even asked), “Why are not the persons (anointed remnant) who will one day be kings with Christ NOT being consulted or providing inputs to the organization of the Watch Tower? Why are their names not known? This new move by making these eight men exclusively the Faithful and Discreet Slave squelches such questionings.

The idea that there is no evil slave is very interesting because Jesus said that there would be an evil slave who would beat the faithful ones. (Matthew 24:45-51)

I have written extensively about this and it appears that if the idea that there is no longer an evil slave, then one will not view the Watch Tower as such an Slave. Very clever move.

Yet, the Watch Tower has behaved exactly like the evil slave in Jesus’ illustration at Matthew 24:45-51. How so? Well, it was the evil slave – not the faithful ones – who did not listen to what Jesus said at Matthew 24:42. Jesus said, “YOU do not know on what day YOUR Lord is coming.”

Yet, the Watch Tower (and Bible Students) both made claim that THEY know. The published date is 1914.

The evil slave in the illustration was “expecting” the Lord to return on a certain date because he felt that the Master was “delaying.” Likewise, the Watch Tower organization published “well in advance” of 1914, that the Lord would return in that year. So it, like the evil slave, was “expecting” the Lord to return in 1914.

Yet, the Faithful Slave was not “expecting” the Lord to return on a certain date. They knew what their Master said to them at Matthew 24:36, Matthew 24:42 and Acts 1:7 and therefore they were simply watchful.

It is for these reasons (and what based on what Jesus says), the Governing Body (a made up expression) is NOT any Faithful and Discreet Slave. In fact, no person who believes Christ returned on a certain date is such a slave, they are evil slaves because they are not listening to Christs voice and proceeding on their own making claims that “THEY KNOW” when he returned when Jesus says that “YOU do not know on what day YOUR Lord is coming.” So what this Evil Slave does is besmirch (beat) any who do not believe as they do in this regard.

I am a Faithful Slave and I obey my Master and believe him when he says, “YOU do not know on what day YOUR Lord is coming.”

I reject such claims made by any that says, “We know when the Lord came.”

Many of you had better snap out of your slumber as you have fallen asleep and have not been watchful as the Master told you to be. (Matthew 24:42)

Vol I copyright 1886. Part of the forward says,”six volumes of over 3,000 pages for $2.25-theusual price of one such volume.”

On page 68 it says,”that in this present evil world or epoch, whosoever will live a godly SHALL SUFFER PERSECUTIONS.” Caps were mine.

    To Frank;

Didn’t that same one say “the roads leading off to destruction are broad and spacious and many finding its path?” And didn’t that same one say,”cramped and narrow the road leading to everlasting life and few finding it.”

I think there needs to be a balance on take my load its light.

What gave this man the right to judge others? Gal 2:11-14 parts of,”But when Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face.” As they say today, I am in your face pal. This is a man talking to one of the twelve apostles. Who gave him that right? Did he find fault with others? “even Barnabas was carried away and played false like the rest.”

Is the Bible saying this about these anointed who make up part of the little flock? Why think what people who aren’t in their religious circles say about them. “their conduct did not square off with the truth of the Gospel.” “The other Jewish Christians showed the same lack of principle.”

Gal 3:1,”You stupid Galatians! You must have been bewitched.” Is this fire and brimstone? 3:2,”Answer me one question.”

I guess if someone is going to worship God he must realize, he will have to listen to someone. Peter one of the twelve got corrected, so did Barnabas and the Jewish Christians. Corrected by one who was not one of the twelve.

John 21:18,19,”‘but when you are old you will stretch out your arms, and a stranger will bind you fast, and carry you where you have no wish to go.’He said this to indicate the manner of death by which Peter was to glorify God.”

But,But,But, what about this light yoke, it don’t sound light to me Lord.

Or what about the beatings Paul took?

  • adrian

The Bible warns , not to put ones trust in men . The 8 conmen who are pictured above have set them selves up as the leaders if the WTBTS .It wont surprise me if one day they make a run for the hills with the billions of dollars at their disposal . They even look shifty .

  • Lisa

I just hope my dear friends who I left behind, will now open their eyes and realise what a mess this has become. Raymond Franz was a good man and his crime was to search for the truth. I feel sick to the stomach when I think of all the unkind things that were said of him and I believed them!
The truth will set you free.

I feel sad for those brothers and sisters in Australia, as you say Jacqueline, let the will of our Father be done. Amen.

    • jacqueline

And Amen Lisa. I think something is happening , but like prophecy you have to stand back and wait see.
I am in troy Ohio for the Miami Valley Convention. I just love the freedom to go to spiritual fests the whole weekend. To hear the BIBLE AND BE ABLE TO THINK ON what the brothers say concerning a scripture and see another aspect just captivates me. I am in hog heaven!!

    • I agree wholeheartedly, Raymond Franz was a good man. So was Edward Dunlap and many many others. They were a threat to the organization. This is the “beating” of the Evil Slave.

These beatings continue to this day. Do not think that these beatings issue forth out of the Watch Tower, they come from many sources, including the International Bible Students.

This, I know, many do not want to here. It is always the “other guy” right?

But I tell you, another Evil Slave (who claims Christ as their Lord) has entered right in among all of you and many of you do not recognize him. Evil Slaves beat other Evil Slaves as well.

He will beat as well you if you do not go along with him.

  • Frank

    Jacqueline,

Thank you for raising some most interesting points. Time will tell, but certainly, anything is possible, no matter how unlikely it may seem. In view of the case Steve Unthank started in Australia, the entire JW financial house of cards – all those corporations and societies – are in jeopardy. And, since the Candace Conti case . . . the days of hiding the bad stuff away are over. Millions, perhaps billions, are up for grabs. Nightmare stuff for an Organization that has spent decades building up its material wealth here on earth.

On the other hand, those whose treasure is in Heaven have little to fear. So – be happy, friends.

Returning to the topic, perhaps readers would be interested in considering (and commenting) on how these these factors will affect developments:

The Bible Students have an untarnished record – certainly compared with the Jehovah’s Witnesses, who are now seen a a hypocritical religion that protects abusers, and promotes commercial interests over spiritual ones.

Secondly, the Bible Students were the ones doing the work up to and after 1914. (JWs only entered the scene in 1930s)

The point about the negative image of the JWs is very valid. There are thousands of pages on the internet about them. Many of these pages expose what a fraud they have been – and also expose their unchristian behaviour towards their own members.

As has been mentioned in various articles, Rutherford desperately needed a name change in the 1903s, after all the disasters his leadership had caused. In business it’s called “re-branding”. Maybe the current leadership is considering a “rebrand” to try sever connections back to Rutherford – who is a media nightmare.

And certainly the JW Organization is in a world-wide crisis – the preaching work is dying. The publishers are confused, demotivated, and demoralized – because they are discovering that the negative reports about the JW organization are true. (As you may have noticed, the July WT focuses on the zeal of the publishers in places like Rwanda – where people have very little access to the Internet. A pure co-incidence?)

There is also the really interesting point about the ‘evil slave'(see the headline section, top of page 24)

No – it’s NOT a class, is the latest pronouncement.

So all those decades of WT articles beating on about the dangers of the Evil Slave Class were downright LIES, no two ways about it. Reminds me of McCarthyism, and all the vicious attacks on suspected “communists”.

For those who have read the July WT, did you notice how many times the phrases “we thought”; “we thought then”; “we think”, “we conclude”; “we think now” are used? They admit their ideas were wrong then – what basis do we now have that that the latest crop of ‘ideas’ is any better?

The self-confessed ideas of men – is this fitting ‘spiritual food’? And just who are the “we” that do all this thinking? Since it has been admitted that the “anointed ones” are not consulted . . . please draw your own conclusions.

The current situation reminds me of a description about people lost, wandering about the wilderness, pursuing one mirage after another.

Would Jesus Christ lead his sheep from one disappointment to another, again and again? Never!

Are we not much happier when we concentrate on living a quiet life, with full Godly devotion, and leave it to Jesus to show us, unmistakably, how his prophecies are to be understood?

    • Jacqueline

Frank, normally I have something to add but I would justmess up what you have brought out. One of my close, very close young relatives is almost crying and just denouncing all religion. I am going to let him go thru his meltdown and be there with the Bible only for him. Some or should I say most witnesses will not read this article until it is studied but there are many sharp thinking witnesses that recognize liars and sneakiness.
Raymond Franz had suggested in the 70’s that they just trash all the doctrines admit wrongness and start from scratch. They said it would be to much of a disaster for the brothers. But they have let people especially children die because of their stubborness. Familie have been torn apart by their policies. Jesus will teach the truth in the millenium and nobaody will think it too much. They treat the flock like children not thinking beings (yes I said beings ha-ha only a witness would understand this(:) ). They always hurt themselves like Balaam when they open their mouths. Linking themselves to the Bible Students will just make the flock go looking on the web for this to learn more.
They will run into all the BS websites like this new one: http://www.biblestudents.com/. They will also see all the negative comments and look to see what others think about this new watchtower and will run up on many of the “conscious class” comments.
I see Jesus in action here. He is not just standing around. He said in Matthew, I will be with you always until the conclusion of this system of things. Rebranding, I like that. But the brand is like the yugo car, they need to stop making it and start over with the bible. They are rich men and Jesus said it is with difficulty that the rich enter the kingdom of God but with God even that is possible. I pray that they will stop and lead these throngs of people to Christ instead of holding on to the control. Slaves will break the yoke off their back. I was one from the cradle but not to the grave, thanks to Jesus and the Holy Spirit of God.

      • Frank

        Hi there Jacqueline,

Thank you for your continued encouragement to my personal email, greatly appreciated. Strange that – you – a total stranger – take the time and trouble to write me, while the WT Society couldn’t be bothered.

You mentioned that “Raymond Franz had suggested in the 70′s that they just trash all the doctrines admit wrongness and start from scratch.” Is that in print anywhere?

Reminds me – Albert Schroeder did a visit on the local Bethel during that period – fire and brimstone stuff.
When I look back, it’s amazing what people put up with.

Especially when Jesus says, “come to me, all you who are toiling and loaded down … I am mild-tempered and lowly in heart … my yoke is kindly and my load is light.”

        • jacqueline

Frank, it is a pleasure to serve my brothers. Strange u should ask where Raymond said that. I will start tomorrow getting the exact pages for they quotes. He actually posted the letters they wrote back to him. Although he suggested this GB thing he soon warned it was a mistake and the monster would develop in thirty years or about. I have my homework cutout as I go over his books. Have you read them yet. I have at least twice. Your comments are a welcomed addition.

    • Peter K. (admin)

Frank Thanks. Should I be disappointed? I feel like I have been downgraded from an “Evil Slave” to an “Apostate.” That Old Light just tastes so good to me (I am not talking about Miller Lite.)

      • Frank

        Hi there Peter K.

Just a quick line, to express appreciation for all the work you do – writing is hugely time consuming.

About the Miller Lite versus Old Light – they both cause intoxication. Just a matter of volume required.

Let’s allow Jesus to have the last word: “Happy are you … whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast your name out as wicked for the sake of the Son of man. Rejoice in that day and leap, for, look! your reward is great in heaven, for those are the same things their forefathers used to do to the prophets.” — Luke 6:20-23

  • Anonymous

    To Peter K.;

I Vol IV Page 569 about a third of a page has Luke 21:20-24 written. After it, “This portion of our Lord’s prophecy eveidently related to events upon fleshly Israel; and history tells us that it was accurately fulfilled in every particular in the troublous scenes wherewith the Jewish age and polity came to an end.” On that same page he refers to “typical Israel” and antitypical Israel. Would be Israel in the flesh and Christendom. The Awake 12/8 pages 23,24 shows they agree that it was fulfilled as CTR believed.

But on the next page 570,”Four points in this narrative show that while it may have had a typical application to the trouble in the end of the Jewish age, its real an most important application belongs to the trouble with which the Gospel age terminates.” Note what four things he mentions. It also extends to 571.
    1. “The reference to the “desolating abomination” mentioned in Daniel’s prophecy.”
    2. “The statement that the trouble will be the most severe the world has ever known or will ever expierence.”
    3. “That unless the carnage were cut short there would be no flesh saved.”
    4. “The context succeeding unquestionably describes events at the end of the Gospel age-events which could not be applied to the end or harvest of the Jewish age, and were not fulfilled there.”
CTR was and amazing man, like John the Baptist ahead of his time. Why do I say that? We know about John and any of us would like to have his credentials. But he died before the choosing of the kingdom heirs began. And he didn’t live to see many things take place for such a man of faith. Likewise CTR. He didn’t miss out on seeing alot of fulfillment, but had to view most of it from heaven, and he to was a man of great faith and would have loved to continue on in earthly affairs and watch fulfillments.

But with what he discerned at number 1, there was a problem. He died before this thing readed its ugly head. Keep in mind he stated,”the end to the Jewish age.” So this prophecy from Daniel can’t happen today in the old Jerusalem temple for there is none.
Problem number two, If he thought things were bad then, the expression fits, he ain’t seen nothing yet. The book was written in 1897 and rest assured I don’t believe there is a person living today that would say the times back then were severe and never will happen again.
Number three is a no brainer. It hasn’t happened yet, and the writer of the book has been dead for 96 plus years. As stated he was ahead of his time.
The nation of Israel is busy fighting minny wars and the people have not responded to any harvest in either accepting Jesus or in worship of Jehovah.

So where it says,”There was a initial fulfillment in Judea in the first century C.E., and there would be a worldwide fulfillment in our day. That insight led to several clarifications. And the article likewise said,”C.T.Russell and his close associates did a work.” And on end notes Paragraph 7: [4] From 1910 to 1914, the Bible Students distributed nearly 4,000,000 books and over 200,000,000 tracts and pamphlets.” WOW! And CTR was leading the way with his associates. I can only speak for myself as a JW, and say I don’t think they spoke badly about CTR and his associates.

  • Peter K. (admin)

Let’s look at a quote from the July Watchtower. Page 11, par 6, “ … During the decades leading up to 1914, C. T. Russell and his close associates did a work like that of John the Baptizer. That vital work involved restoring Bible truths. The Bible Students taught the true meaning of Christ’s ransom sacrifice, exposed 6. (a) What is the larger fulfillment of Malachi’s prophecy? (b) During what time period did Jesus inspect the spiritual temple? (See also endnote.) the hellfire lie, and proclaimed the coming end of the Gentile Times. Still, there were numerous religious groups who claimed to be Christ’s followers. So a crucial question needed to be answered: Who among those groups were the wheat? To settle that question, Jesus began to inspect the spiritual temple in 1914. That inspection and cleansing work involved a period of time—from 1914 to the early part of 1919.”

So it looks like Brother Russell is demoted from founder of the Watchtower to the one pointing to the greater organization that would follow after him. (Just as John the Baptist pointed to Jesus.)

The magazine states that Bible Students are said to have “taught the true meaning of Christ’s Ransom Sacrifice.” So if they acknowledge that the “old meaning” (old light) was correct, why then did they change it? In Brother Russell’s day, he (and the Bible Students) taught and believed that Jesus died an “anti-lutron” or “corresponding price” for Adam. In other words, Jesus died for the world, by the method of dying for Adam personally. Since Jesus redeemed Adam, the whole human race that inherited Adam’s sin were entitled to have that penalty removed, including the wicked; their day of learning righteousness, repentance and judgment, reserved for the time of the earthly paradise kingdom.

The magazine also points out how the Bible Students “proclaimed the coming end of the Gentile Times.” What they don’t say, is that those Bible Students believed it applied to the end of Gentile domination over the natural Jewish people.

    • Jacqueline

Br. Peter is it just me or are they leaving this article with them as the Bible Students? What are your thoughts on this some of us are discussing this last night. Notice they removed the stigma that they attached to the Bible Students of being the “Evil Slave Class”. This is so they won’t be caught being in that so called class. I don’t see where they say they are Jehovah Witnesses at all. I know how they think, my personal opinion is that they will in the future announce that they are no longer to be called JW but simply Bible Students. The name JW is a stench on the web and if you mention this name in stores or even at people doors. I look for this change possibly by this summer. So now I wonder if my family is confused or has it helped them to accept me, only time will tell. Right now only 2 people in the family will pick up the phone or answer any text from me. I told them about the review before the article came out. Things change in the blink of an eye, Let the will of our Father be done. Jacqueline

      • RR

I’m sorry Jacqueline, while I will admit that anything is possible, I can’t see them ever readopting the name “Bible Students” as an official name. To much is at stake.

        • Jacqueline

You know I thought I would not see the day they did away with their evil slave class either. I can see what they are inching up to. It goes like this: Upon further consideration wouldn’t it be fitting if we embraced the position name and place we had when Jesus did his inspection?!!! We will from henceforth be known as the BIBLE STUDENTS. You see the name JW is a stench in the nostril of most. AU is ripping the org and it’s policies apart in their media. That name is synonimous with pedophilia now like the Catholic church, although their adherents love the pope so much they still overlook their sin.
Time will tell. This leopard does not change it’s spots, it is so predictable. We predicted then taking on the role of the bible student 3 years ago.

          • Peter K. (admin)

Jacqueline – The name Jehovah’s Witnesses is such a major cornerstone of JW teaching, it is hard to imagine them rebranding.  What impact would such a name change have on us (the original Bible Students)?

            POSSIBLE IMPACT OF NAME CHANGE

            1.  We original Bible Students might be confused with and lumped in with the new JW Bible Studens in the eyes of the public.

            2.  Much of the JW Internet discussion and criticisms would evolve into JW Bible Student criticism.  In Google searches it would become hard to find Original Bible Student websites, because most of the “Bible Student” searches would yield JW Bible Student results.  Curious JWs would be less likely to happen upon the Original Bible Students.

            3. However it is possible that such a change initally might draw imediate attention to the Original Bible Students, placing a strategy to drown us out in jeopardy.

It is interesting to speculate, but that is all this is at present, just speculation.  A name change is hard to imagine since so much weight has been placed on the name, “Jehovah’s Witnesses.”  However, we can keep watching and sharing developments with each other.  Let’s see how things develop.   Most importantly, let’s keep studying our Bibles, looking for guidance in our Christian walk from Jehovah’s word.

            • RR

I agree Peter, everything the Watchtower movement is today is wrapped around the name “Jehovah’s Witnesses”. They claim to be the Israel of God, replacement theology at its best. To change their name would be undermine everything they have written about themselves in the past, to repudiate their actual founder Judge Rutherford and all the claims they have made for themselves.

If they were to re-adopt the name “Bible Students”, it would be simply to confuse the masses and bury the Original Bible Students. If they were to adopt a new name, it would cause so much confusion. There are already Jehovah’s Witness offshoots who hold to the name, as well as various Bible Student groups, what’s next?

They are so confused. It’s not about Truth, it’s about survival, and they will do whatever it takes to survive. It’s too late for them to turn back.

              • Jacqueline

Just watch them this summer! That’s my story and i am sticking to it. They will mess with their name. They are predictable but I have been wrong many times.

              • jeffm

                Hey Rolie!

The last time the jws stoped at my door explaining why they were called jws i flipped to the next couple of chapters in Isaiah where the context denounced the witnesses as sinful and idolotrous.. When i said that i would not want to be identified with that sinful and idolotrous people they were not really sure what to say so they moved to the next subject.

                • RR

                  Hey Jeff,

I always point them to the actual scriptures in Isaiah that speak of the “new name”. Jehovah tells them in Isa. 62:2 “and thou shalt be called by a new name, which the mouth of the LORD shall name.” In verse 4 he tells them what that name is …. “ Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzibah, and thy land Beulah: for the LORD delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.”

So they should be calling themselves “Hephzibah”, their headquarters should be “Beulah”, instead of Bethel.

                • Jacqueline

Some witnesses think they are called that because of Isaiah but the more versed ones know better. For the Jews are his witnesses. I also stopped attending congregation book study until I left in 2009 because of the very same verses being applied to Christendom in one but this meant witnesses are in disbelief. My eyes became more opened and my exit for a place to go had begun. The Isiah book studied by the witnesses made no sense.

          • RR

You do realize that the name “Bible Students” was considered a stench in Pastor Russell’s day. It isn’t so much the name, as it is the beliefs behind the name.

        • jacqueline

RR, do you remember that 1 or 2 period when we were too say we were Bible Students and not mention Jehovah Witnesses? Also not take a field service bag but just the bible. It might have just been tested in Chicago but they ditched it rudely for some reason. The circuit overseer wasn’t nice when he told us to stop. He said you are teachers of the bible not students! But they acted as if we started it instead of them as always.

          • RR

I do recall using the name “Bible Student” when I was a JW living in New York. It was simply a ruse, to get people to open the door. Few fell for it, since JW’s were the only ones who went door-to-door. We were NEVER told to stop. Get the door open at whatever the cost, was our aim.

When I worked with Bethelites, they went from door-to-door as representatives of the Watchtower Society. Rank and file JWs were allowed too.

      • Dupin

I’ve seen some rumors around to that effect.

It seems to me the efforts of the brethren to highlight the real origin of the Witnesses have struck a nerve. However there is a big problem with trying to take the name back given how far they deviate from Russell’s teachings.
Oh yeah while I am on a rant, let me get this out. “Copywrite material” if they were getting it from the Bible God has the copywrite and anybody can take of it freely. That was something I never understood with regards the Bible and Bible material it belongs to the world. Not on point but I had to finally say that. Yeh but they will try! Those boys think the sun rises and shine just for them. They have gall, that will probably be their downfall. I have seen that beast up close in court. They actually believe their lies.

Great point you raise there, Dupin, about the Copyright issue. Since the Bible is not copyrighted – any work derived from in cannot (morally) be copyrighted either. And since Bible Truth is FREE (Rev 22:17)- exerting Copyright for commercial gain is morally, ethically and spiritually wrong.

Leo Tolstoy, who wrote much in the 1870s about understanding the Gospels, deliberately chose NOT to copyright his articles and books – even though he was a very famous author.

The book Life of Tolstoy by Aylmer Maude has a lot of material Bible Students will find very interesting. In some ways Tolstoy’s ideas complement those of brother CT Russell. I have not been able to ascertain whether they read each other’s work.

Br. Peter, I had a conversation today with a witness at a restaurant and they said the society in July mag admits others will survive armageddon. It seems the magazine is written in such a way it is confusing as her. This is a witness that is on a crusade to have me disfellowshipped. She has gone to elders and Circuit overseers to insist they stop people from talking to me, yet she stopped me.
Here is just a brief synopsis of some of the things I gleaned as major changes to increase field service and to assume name BIBLE STUDENTS as them.
Page 13 par 15:They have now put the separating of the sheep and goat of Matt 25 to be at the event “The Great Tribulation” then a period of time until armageddon, then they goats will be destryed at armageddon.
Page 24: There is no longer an “evil slave class”. Those persons are apostate. They have to do away with this class, because they said it was the Bible Students.THEY HAVE OUTRIGHT TAKEN OVER THE NAME BIBLE STUDENTS, appling it to them. I saw this coming 2 years ago.
Page 20. par 3. Bible Students 1910-1914 were just a pre group not the full fledged group. The inspection of the temple came in 1919 only and the slave (composite) was appointed.
Page 22 par. 9 The faithful and discreet slave are those that have lived at headquarters only and in reality the governingbody only.

Jacqueline – Thanks for these important insights and refering us to the page and paragraph. It would be good for our website friends and visitors to share what they glean from this publication. I noticed the following on page 4 par 4 “Upon further examination of Jesus’ prophecy, however, we perceived that a part of Jesus’ prophecy about the last days has two fulfillments. (Matt. 24:4-22) There was an initial fulfillment in Judea in the first century C.E., and there would be a worldwide fulfillment in our day. That insight led to several clarifications.”. What is interesting is that in the early Watchtower days, Brother Russell was teaching a similar thought in Volume 4, “The Lords Great Prophecy,” see the subhead “The Trouble in the End of the Jewish Age” beginning on page 569.. So again, they are going back to OLD LIGHT.
