With an open-minded approach and complete freedom in Christ, the most substantively meaningful response to this contentious question can only be determined through private, unbiased research (refer to 1 Timothy 5:21; 1 Thessalonians 5:21), complemented by diligent personal moral discernment. Subsequently, to communicate the deliberative conclusion to the “Hearer of Prayer” with measured humility through prayer (Psalm 65:2).
We should carefully consider whether there is explicit divine authorization for any of these groups to settle in that land following the commencement of the Roman diaspora, similar to the authorization granted during the Babylonian exile. Alternatively, in the absence of specific instructions, was it acceptable to God for the land to be available for anyone to repopulate, in accordance with God’s initial command to “fill the earth” (Genesis 1:28; 9:1), even if the land remained the perpetual property of Abraham’s descendants?

      Hello Mihai,

It is a privilege to continue our dialogue. I appreciate the measured humility and the “open-minded approach” you bring to this complex and often contentious subject. Your emphasis on private research and moral discernment is very much in harmony with the Berean spirit we cherish (Acts 17:11).

Regarding your inquiry into the “divine authorization” for the repopulation of the land following the Roman diaspora, Bible Students offer a perspective rooted in the harmonization of time prophecy and the “Divine Plan of the Ages.”

The Expiration of the Gentile Lease To address your question about whether there is “explicit divine authorization” similar to the Babylonian return, we must look at what the Scriptures term the “Times of the Gentiles” (Luke 21:24). I believe that the overthrow of the typical Kingdom of God in 606 B.C. began a 2,520-year “lease of power” granted to Gentile nations.

This period ended chronologically in 1914. Just as the Babylonian exile had a fixed duration, the “treading down” of Jerusalem was to last only until these “times” were fulfilled. Therefore, the end of this period marked the “set time” to favor Zion once more (Psalm 102:13). The “divine authorization” is not found in a new literal decree delivered to a single prophet, but in the expiration of the legal lease of Gentile dominion and the subsequent “dispossession proceedings” that we see in the shaking of the current social order.

Perpetual Property vs. Repopulation You asked if it was acceptable to God for the land to be available for anyone to repopulate based on the initial command to “fill the earth” (Genesis 1:28). While it is true that “the earth hath he given to the children of men,” the specific land of Canaan was granted to Abraham and his seed for an “everlasting possession” (Genesis 13:14, 15; 17:8).

Even though Israel was “cast off” for a season due to their rejection of the Messiah, God’s covenant with them was “without repentance” (Romans 11:29). The regathering of the Jews since 1878 is a “miracle of history”—the “fig tree” putting forth its leaves as a sign that the Kingdom of God is nigh at hand (Matthew 24:32).

A Mission of Blessing, Not Just Occupation While the world focuses on the political or military right to the land, Bible Students emphasize the prophetic purpose of this restoration. We believe that:
      1. Restoration is a Sign: The return of the Jews to Palestine is a landmark proof of the Master’s invisible presence (parousia).
      2. A Global Purpose: Israel is being restored to serve as the “blesser nation” on earth during the Millennium. The faithful “Ancient Worthies”—Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob—are expected to be resurrected as perfect human “princes in all the earth” to act as the earthly representatives of Christ’s Kingdom (Psalm 45:16).
      3. Blessing for the Neighbors: The ultimate “Peace Plan” for the Middle East is not a human treaty, but the Kingdom of God. Under that reign, the “pure message” will be turned to all people, and Israel’s role will be to lead all nations—including their Arab neighbors—into the “Restitution of all things” (Acts 3:21; Zephaniah 3:8, 9).

In this view, the land was not simply “available for anyone” to claim permanently, because God had already reserved it for the specialized role it will play in the “Divine Plan”. However, the Restitution promised through the Ransom for All ensures that every member of the human race will eventually find their “inheritance” in a perfected, Paradise Earth, where “none shall make them afraid” (Micah 4:4).

We look forward with you to the time when “the desire of all nations shall come” and the “Hearer of Prayer” will bring a final end to these bitter conflicts (Haggai 2:7).

      In Christian love,

      Additional notes:
To whom did God promise the Land of Israel? For how long? Why would you personally care whether God keeps this promise?
God promised the Land of Israel to Abraham and his descendants forever. (Gen 13:15). God repeated the promise to Isaac (Gen 26:4) & Jacob (Gen 48:3,4). But they all died as aliens and strangers in the land, never actually inheriting it in their lifetime (Gen. 17:8; Acts 7:5, Gen 28:4), proving that someday Abraham, Isaac and Jacob will be resurrected on earth at which time God will fulfill the promise of giving them the land forever. (see also Psalm 105:9:12). We care that God keeps this promise to Abraham and his descendants otherwise how can we trust he will keep his promises to us?

The fact that they would be regathered to the land (Isa. 43:5-6 & Jer 30:3), never again to be removed (Amos 9:14) on the (millennial) day (Isa 11:11)

Land reclamation (Amos 9:14; Isa 35:1,2; Isa. 61:4). Rebuilding of cities, clearing swamps, irrigating deserts & farming the land. In the past centuries, Israel was a barren wasteland and filled with swamps and deserts. Now God has transformed Israel into a thriving farming country which exports much of its crops and is one of the most technologically advanced nations on the planet.

What Scriptures show that Israel will be a Blesser Nation?
Isa 27:6 – Israel shall blossom and bud, and fill the face of the world with fruit. (NKJ)
Zech 8:22-23 – many nations shall come to seek the LORD of hosts in Jerusalem (NKJ)
Jer 3:17 – Jerusalem shall be called The Throne of the LORD (NKJ)
Isa 61:5&6 – Other nations will look to Israel as priests and will bring their wealth and services.
Isa 2:2-4 – People seek the LORD in Jerusalem and worship Him there (Zech 14:16)
Zech 14:17 – Whoever doesn’t go to Jerusalem to worship will receive no rain (blessings, see also Micah 5:7)
Zech 8:13 – Israel shall be a blessing
Gen 28:14 – In Abraham’s seed all the families of the earth will be blessed. Isaac pictures the heavenly seed and Jacob the earthly seed (natural Israel). Blessing will flow both from heaven (Christ & the Church) and earth (natural Israel).
